If I bring another dog home I may be in deep trouble. You see I have a problem, I believe all dogs deserve a safe and loving home. I also believe children learn valuable lessons from being “owned” by a dog. They learn unconditional love, compassion and devotion to name a few. Then hopefully they learn responsibility, and commitment. The Humane Society estimates between 6-8 million cats and dogs enter shelters ever year.
Most people who know me know I volunteer for a few rescues. I foster and transport, I read through adoption applications. I am overjoyed when one of my fosters finds their forever home and cry when they leave. Each dog has its own story. I have fosters in Montana, Indiana, Nevada, Tennessee and California. Some are much loved couch potatoes and some are special needs dogs who have incredible parents that are committed to their development. I’ve made life long friends through Rescue.
How does this fit in with Real Estate? Coldwell Banker is a corporate sponsor of and have partnered with them on the “Homes for Dogs” project. Check out the “Old Dog New Dog” advertising campaign video and be sure to go to coldwellbanker.com/homesfordogs for more information.
Locally our office has sponsored food and treat drives along with blanket and leash drives to support our local shelter. We are exploring a more consistent program to benefit our shelter soon. Personally, I like going in and visiting with Karen and her staff and visiting the animals. I encourage everyone to stop. Who knows? The perfect addition to your family may be patiently waiting for you.
If you can’t adopt a pet you can always donate used blankets, towels and sheets. The shelter always needs those items. Call a head and see how they are set for treats they use certain brands of dog food and treats to decrease the chance of tummy upset.
So many pets need loving homes. Won’t you please consider adopting?
